Built by lawyers, for lawyers
Laine covers the full lifecycle of a document —
from first draft to final signature, and every negotiation round in between. Here’s where to start.
Drafting
From blank page to first draft in minutes
Start a New Document and Laine walks you through it — asking only the questions that matter for that agreement type, then producing a properly structured first draft. This is AI contract drafting that behaves like a colleague rather than a chatbot.
You can draft from scratch, from Laine’s native library, or from your own templates. Upload the precedents you already trust, save them to your personal library, and the same legal document automation applies to them. Your parties are stored once and reused, so you’re not retyping the same registered address for the tenth time this month.
Laine also drafts letters, memos, term sheets, memorandum and more and supports multi-language, jurisdiction-specific formatting, so a Swiss, US, DIFC or ADGM document comes out looking like it belongs there.
Everything drafted with Laine is saved in My Documents, in a dedicated folder: Contracts, Memos, Templates, and Document Review for the ones you have reviewed. You can create your own folders too, and upload files in bulk or one at a time.

Reviewing
Know what you’re signing
Upload any document and Laine reads it the way a senior associate would. On upload you may choose which folder the document is saved to, so everything stays organized. Then pick the mode that fits the task — Review, Polish my Draft, or Markup and Negotiate. Whether you need a fast read or a full AI document review, Laine reports on what that document actually contains.
Reviewing against your own standards is where Laine gets interesting. Playbooks let you record your own positions — which clauses are non-negotiable, which are fallback, which need sign-off. Laine reviews against those positions and flags what deviates.
Working on a transaction with fifty documents? Projects ingests the whole set at once and keeps the full context available, so due diligence questions about one document are answered with awareness of all of them.
Editing
Consistent across the whole document
Ask Laine to polish a draft, tighten a clause, or insert a new provision — and it checks the whole document, not just the paragraph in front of it. That whole-document awareness is what separates real legal document editing from find-and-replace.
Everything happens in a familiar Word-like editor inside the platform. No moving between tools, no downloading a copy to make one change and re-uploading it afterwards.
A consistency check runs automatically at the end of drafting. It catches the things that are easy to miss on a read-through — a defined term used but never defined, drafting and formatting that drifts between clauses — and flags them before the document leaves your hands.
You can track every change and compare versions through the negotiation, then export clean to Word whenever you’re ready.

Extended Legal Research
Answers with citations you can check
Ask a legal question in plain language and get an answer grounded in real case law. Laine’s legal research is connected to live case law sources, with citations linking straight to the relevant paragraph.
You set the depth: a quick answer when you need fast insight, or extended research when the question warrants a deeper look.
Found something useful? Simply ask Laine in the chat to turn the research directly into a memo, then polish it as you need.
Where to begin
Open Laine and pick the thing you’d otherwise be doing right now — a draft, a review, a question.
There’s no setup project and no configuration phase. Bring in your templates and playbooks
when you’re ready or use the ones from the Library.
